Book Signing and a Mini Concert - This is a Repeat event; the first one was snowed out.
Delphine's is hosting a Book Signing for AnnMarie Rowland, The Apologetic Chef.. She has her own cookbook of favorites from the Log House in addition to other down to earth, easy to follow tested recipes. The date is the signing is Wednesday, the 25th of April. The event will be held from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and will feature a mini-concert of Ann's quilt related songs. There is no fee to attend so bring a friend and come out for a fun evening of music & good food (samples from the book, of course). The cost of the cookbook is $15.00 and they can be purchased at Delphine's or by going to https://annmarierowland.com if you can't make it to the Open House.
Sew and Stuff Pet Beds - Saturday, May 19, Noon to 5pm or anytime in between
Pet shelters are always in need of bedding, and we collect fabric scraps for a group of sewers who have donated over 4000 beds to Michigan shelters! At the moment we are storing a huge amount of scraps plus piles of donated upholstery and drapery samples. Instead of just handing all of this off to the group, take make elsewhere, we decided to let others participate in the fun, and are asking volunteers to come in and sew with us for a day. You will also be welcome to take the beds made that day to your local shelters, if you can help in this way. All you need to bring is a sewing machine, your basic sewing supplies, and any scraps of stuffing or batting that you would like to donate.

Graphic Gems by Sarah Maxwell and Marcus Fabrics
9 month program
The "Graphic Gems" 9 month program from Marcus Textiles started in March of 2018 but there are still openings. Delphine has finished 2 sections of this quilt and has them hanging at the shop. The mix of gray with bright green and blues is quite pretty. We are using the Lapis & Emerald colorway for this 76" x 87" quilt. The cost for this all batik project is $28.99 $24.99 per month and includes all the fabric for the top, the binding and the pattern. Shipping is $6.00 per month if needed.
Recipe of the Month
Flourless Chocolate Cake - WOW!
12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, broken into 1-inch pieces
16 Tbs unsalted butter
6 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 Tbs cornstarch
1 Tbs vanilla extract
1 tsp instant espresso powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Adjust your oven rack to the middle position and heat oven to 275 degrees. Spray a 9" springform pan with vegetable oil spray.
Microwave chocolate and butter at 50% power and stir occasionally with a rubber spatula until melted, about 4 minutes. Let mixture cool for 5 minutes.
Whisk eggs, sugar, water, cornstarch, vanilla, espresso powder and salt together in bowl until thoroughly combined, about 30 seconds. Whisk in chocolate mixture until smooth and slightly thick. Pour into prepared pan. Tap on counter to release air bubbles. Let sit 10 minutes and pop any bubbles that rise up. Bake until edges are set and center jiggles slightly 45 to 50 minutes. Cook for 5 minutes and release the sides of pan. Cool for 6 hours in the refrigerator.
The original recipe calls for serving this cake with whipped cream. It is great with fresh raspberries.
