A huge Thank You goes out to all of you who placed orders on our web site and by phone over the past couple of weeks! Delphine’s Quilt Shop was able to pay the April bills (February's deliveries) plus May’s rent! It was a bit hectic at times, so thank you for your patience. We really felt the love.
It’s hard to believe the doors will have been closed for two months by the time the stay at home edict begins to be lifted. Thanks to your continued non-contact support, we will make it until the day we can welcome you in the door. To be honest, as much fun as it's been to hunt down your items, I look forward to you bringing your finds up to the counter for cutting. I've learned that batiks are best at playing hide and seek, though other bolts have done their share of hiding in plain sight also! We are in the process of determining what the shopping experience at Delphine’s Quilt Shop will look like in the new reality and will keep you posted as we get closer to re-opening the doors.
Normally, every winter we offer free shipping on orders over $50. For the past few weeks it’s been free shipping on all orders and that was awesome, but you knew it had to end. In an effort to find the right dollar amount to peg free shipping at, we decided to follow the lead of the big internet retailers. Effective immediately, Free Shipping will be adjusted to be available on orders of $25.00 or more.
We will also continue to do sales for curbside pickup for the foreseeable future. That option will remain available on the website, or you may arrange for curbside pickup when you email or phone in your order. The web-site is always open and orders will be filled daily. 95% of the shop is online and everything except really bulky items can be shipped.
If using a web-site doesn't work for you but you find yourself in need of an item, send me an email at delphine@delphinesquiltshop.com stating that you would like me to contact you. The next time I am in the shop I will call you back.
You may also call the shop at 989-732-1252 between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm to catch me, or leave a message and I will return your call. I and/or my husband, Dennis are at the store daily to process orders. We use the USPS to ship most orders and generally have them on their way to you within 24 hours, sometimes in minutes.
If you call the shop and the phone just rings without the answering machine coming on, that means I am on the other line and cannot get free to answer your call. Caller ID has been picking up those numbers so I have been able to call people back when I get off the phone with the original caller.
We will do our best to make sure Delphine's Quilt Shop LC stays virus free through the use of sanitizers, thorough hand cleaning and facemasks as appropriate.

Clubs and Meetings at Delphine's
The classroom has been re-arranged to allow 9 people to sew with 6 feet of social distancing between them! The rest of the room was condensed in a way that actually seems roomier. Once the stay at home order is lifted, we hope to hear the hmm of machines and the laughter of conversation again.
Our neighbors at Isabella's Copper Pot are delighted to announce that Doug, an EMT with Otsego County, is now off a ventilator and recovering from Covid-19 at the Grayling Hospital!
If you would like to purchase an Isabella's gift card for use when they re-open, call Kendra at 989.370.1617 and she will get one sent out to you.
Recipes of the Month
Delphine's Meatloaf
2 lbs. lean ground beef
2 cups fresh bread crumbs
1 onion, finely chopped
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1-1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground pepper
1/4 cup milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix thoroughly (your hands are your best tool for this). Pat into a standard size loaf pan and bake for about 45 minutes. Or divide the meat mixture into 8 portions and bake in a large muffin tin for about 30 minutes. The meatloaf needs to reach an internal temperature of 155 to 160 degrees to be considered done.
This recipe was a favorite of the 55+ group that I used to cook for at a local church.
After dinner, serve these mints and just try to stop eating them!
1 (8 0z) pkg. cream cheese, softened
3 tbsp. butter, softened
2 lb. powdered sugar
1-1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
food coloring, if desired
Using the paddle attachment on your mixer, combine the cream cheese, butter, and 1 cup of the sugar until very smooth. Add the extract and mix until well blended. Gradually add the remaining sugar until everything is nice and smooth. It may seem a little dry, that's ok. Divide as desired to add coloring (use just a drop or two). Refrigerate for about an hour, and then roll into SMALL balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper, and using a sugared fork press them down a little. Allow to dry for 2 - 4 hours, flip them over and allow to dry some more.
If you are part of the group of quilters that Ann and I performed for in the Upper Peninsula, yes, this is the recipe you shared with us. Thanks for letting us take the leftover mints home.
