Are your thoughts turning to flowers, outside dining, gardening and the scent of line dried bed sheets like mine?  I enjoy the changing of the seasons, the anticipation of what makes each season unique (yes, even winter) and finding joy in all of God's creation.   It's a little like quilting, as each project brings it's own excitement and anticipation of what the finished project will look and feel like.   While spring is a great time to start dreaming of bouquets of lilacs to bring their sweet fragrance into your home, I hope you also are dreaming about your next project to brighten your sewing space.  I invite you to come in to the shop or look online at all our colorful fabrics just waiting to be selected and put into a quilt.

The pictures below are of a few of the new products at the shop!  Starting from the left is the Disperse Quilt Top Kit (42" square) from Picadilly by Riley Blake,  SKY Log Cabin Quilt Pattern using the Sky Ombre fabrics by Jennifer Sampou for Robert Kaufman (which we will have kits for soon), the Spring 2022 Quilt Sampler magazine, the Coral Reef Quilt Top Kit by Tilda (56" x 74"), and a 10" square set of Blissful Blooms
by Clothworks (more pre-cuts and bolts are available)
.

Spring Cleaning Sale in our New Sale Area!

The Sale Area Corner has been re-arranged and we are really happy with the change!  It's much easier to move around in, plus the fabrics are also easier to see.  To celebrate we are holding a Spring Cleaning Sale in just this part of the store.  1000's of yards of perfectly good fabrics at an incredible price.

All bolts are $5.50 a yard (YES! only $5.50 a yard) when you buy a minimum 1 yard cut.  Skinny rolls, which are pre-measured, are included in the sale but you must use CASH or a CHECK to take advantage of this deal!

Offer is good until the end of the Month.

Jen has mastered this technique and makes it so easy for others to do also.  She used a 10" square set of  Spring Promise by Artisan Batiks for Robert Kaufman.  There are also samples using 1800's style fabrics and another one made from Effervescent!  Learn the basics and pick up tips on making easy Pineapple blocks with the Top Piecing Method of paper piecing which does not require you to flip and sew!

Foundation Pieced Log Cabin Class with Jen
Wednesday, May 18th from 10:30am-12:30pm

Another way to do foundation piecing... using the add-a-quarter ruler and the "flip" method.  Come join Jen to make these fun scrappy Log Cabin blocks!   You choose either 6" finished blocks or 12" finished blocks, using your scraps, strips or yardage.  Once you make one, you won't want to stop.   Jen made a lap sized quilt top using the 6" blocks from fabrics by Lori Holt and it is adorable.

Recipe of the Month

Swiss Cheese Bread - Perfect for a crowd

3 small loaves of french bread 12" long each
2 sticks of soft butter - you can use less if desired
1 Tablespoon mustard
1 Tablespoon minced onion
1 Teaspoon lemon juice
36 very thin slices of swiss cheese - ask your deli counter to cut it for you

Slice bread every 1",  3/4 of the way through with diagonal cuts.  Fold cheese slices in 1/2 and put them in the slits.  Spread the butter mixture over the top and wrap the loaves in foil.  Bake at 325 degrees until the cheese is fully melted, approx. 30 minutes.  Remove from the oven and carefully remove the foil.  Finish cutting the slices and serve warm.
