A day to work on whatever project you want to work on!  Bring your supplies, machine if necessary, and join the group for some sewcialization!  Bring money for lunch...the group usually orders lunch from one of the surrounding restaurants. 
Patriotic Quilters

This group meets twice a month to work on quilts for veterans in the area.  All fabrics are provided, and all the cutting is done for you.  Bring your machine and thread, and help work on these well deserved donation quilts.

Building Blocks

Monday, June 12th, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Cost: $10.00 plus supplies

If you've already taken a beginner quilt class and are ready for the next step in learning how to quilt, look no further!  This class is designed for the beginner quilter who would like to build their knowledge base.  You'll learn the next steps in piecing various blocks and make a sampler quilt at the same time.   Class meets once a month and each month you will be working on a different quilt block.  Examples include the Bear Paw, the Snail's Trail, and Cottage Garden.  At the end of 12 months, you'll have 12 blocks ready to assemble in a layout of your choice.  Come join Jen as she shares her love of quilting with you.

Jen has mastered this technique and makes it so easy for others to do also.  She used a 10" square set of Spring Promise by Artisan Batiks for Robert Kaufman.  There are also samples using 1800's style fabrics and another one made from Effervescent!  Learn the basics and pick up tips on making easy Pineapple blocks with the Top Piecing Method of paper piecing which does not require you to flip and sew!

Beginner English Paper Piecing

Thursday, June 29th, 10:30am to 1:00pm

Cost: $20.00 plus supplies

Learn the basic techniques of English Paper Piecing (EPP) using hexagons and diamonds to create a cute table topper.  Join Kathy Williams as she shows you just how much fun this hand-stitching technique can be. Finished project size is approximately 25" round.

Are you wanting to make a stylish purse in fabrics that you love?  Not to mention a purse with lots of pockets?  We have just the pattern!  Join Kathy  as she demonstrates how fun this purse is to make.  This is a 2-session class which will go in-depth on understanding the pattern, the fusing and cutting process and then purse assembly.  This is a great way to learn how to put zippers in purses and Kathy will share with you her tips/tricks and shortcuts along the way.  We're sure you'll want to make another when you finish.

Easy Crock Pot Cowboy Beans

  • 6 slices smoked bacon coarsely chopped
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 slices (1/4 inch thick) smoked ham diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can (16 ounces) pinto beans
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes with hatch green chilies
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Kansas City style barbecue sauce

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In large skillet over medium heat cook bacon until it starts to crisp on the edges. Add ground beef and onion; cook until beef is browned and bacon is crispy. Add ham and cook another 1-2 minutes to get it a little crispy. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Remove from heat, drain any excess grease and add to crock pot.
  2. To crock pot add beans, diced tomatoes, brown sugar, yellow mustard, ketchup and barbecue sauce.
  3. Cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 4 hours.
