Can you believe July is over and we are beginning the month of August?!?  Where is the time going, I must ask.  My kids are already planning their back to school activities and sports.  It feels too soon to me, but I know that the fall colors will be here before we know it.  I have meetings with fabric representatives this week and next week, to pick out more beautiful fabrics, so next newsletter I'll have another list of what's coming so you can plan ahead.  Thank you to all of you who have shopped at my small business.  It means a LOT to me!  Did you know, if you find a notion, pattern or book that you want to purchase, you can always call the shop and ask if we can get that same item for you?  We are happy to shop and ship for you anytime. 

PETOSKEY STONE UPDATE

If you haven't seen the announcement on social media, our Petoskey Stone fabric has arrived at the shop!  You can order online, in-person, or over the phone.  The fabric is $13.99 per yard.  We've already sold almost half of our order, so if you are thinking about buying some, do not delay. 

MACHINE CLEANING & SCISSOR SHARPENING WITH AARON LEE

Aaron Lee will be here on Tuesday, August 8th for machine cleaning and scissor sharpening.  If your machine needs a good clean, oil and adjust, now is the time to get it taken care of.  You'll be happier and your machine will be happier!  We have 2 appointment times left!!! Machine cleaning fee is $75.00 per machine, $85.00 for a Husqvarna.  If you have scissors that need sharpening, Aaron can take care of that too! Only $6.00 per pair.  Call the shop to sign up for an afternoon time-slot, availability is first come first serve.  Cash or check only for Aaron's services on the day of the event. 

SIDEWALK SALES - DOWNTOWN GAYLORD

Sidewalk Sales are scheduled for Downtown Gaylord on Friday, August 11th and Saturday, August 12th.  We will have some great specials, so make sure you stop in.  We will be open our regular hours both days.  Don't forget to check out the other great deals you'll find Downtown, plus the Farmer's Market is open on Saturday's from 9am to 1pm.

Upcoming Classes

	Building Blocks Monday, August 14th, 5:30pm-7:30pm Cost: $10.00 per month, plus supplies If you've already taken a beginner quilt class and are ready for the next step in learning how to quilt, look no further!  This class is designed for the beginner quilter who would like to build their knowledge base.  You'll learn the next steps in piecing various blocks and make a sampler quilt at the same time.   Class meets once a month and each month you will be working on a different quilt block.  Examples include the Bear Paw, the Snail's Trail, and Cottage Garden.  At the end of 12 months, you'll have 12 blocks ready to assemble in a layout of your choice.  Come join Jen as she shares her love of quilting with you. This class will repeat, so you can join us anytime!
	Pineapple Foundation Piecing Class Friday, August 11th, 10:30am-12:30pm Cost: $16.00 plus supplies Jen has mastered this technique and makes it so easy for others to do also.  This is a versatile pattern that allows you the freedom of doing something really scrappy, or something a little more organized.  We have  samples using 1800's style fabrics, one made from Effervescence, a pastel Batik, and a Patriotic version.  Learn the basics and pick up tips on making easy Pineapple blocks with the Top Piecing Method of paper piecing which does not require you to flip and sew!
	Pencil Me In Pouch Friday, August 18th, 10:30am-12:30pm Cost: $16.00 plus supplies Join Jennifer for this quick and simple project. Great gift idea for back-to-school!  Learn how to box corners and insert a zipper.
	Beginner English Paper Piecing Thursday, August 24th, 5:00pm to 7:30pm Cost: $20.00 plus supplies Learn the basic techniques of English Paper Piecing (EPP) using hexagons and diamonds to create a cute table topper.  Join Kathy Williams as she shows you just how much fun this hand-stitching technique can be. Finished project size is approximately 25" round.
	Project Jelly Roll Saturday, September 16th, 10:30am to 3:30pm Mark your calendars now and save the date!  Moda has sent us the four patterns for this year's event, and they look super fun.  Three patterns are quilt patterns, with finished sizes ranging around 56" x 77".  The fourth pattern is a pillow pattern, where 1 jelly roll can make up to 4 pillows!  You choose which pattern you would like to make during the event.  Also, we have added to our assortment of jelly rolls for you to purchase, so please stop by and take a look.
